Visionary Innovation Painting (VIP)
Client Stories

This client story follows my work with Visionary Innovation Painting, a painting company doing exceptional work long before their brand reflected it.
What started as a request for t-shirts and business cards became a multi-phase partnership focused on brand clarity, consistency, visibility, and long-term growth.
This story isn’t just about what we created — it’s about how we worked together, why decisions were made, and what it looks like when strategy comes before design.
The Starting Point: Knowing Something Needed to Change

When Visionary Painting first reached out, they weren’t exactly sure what they needed — but they knew something wasn’t lining up.
They did incredible work. Their brand didn’t reflect that.
The overall presentation of their branding didn’t match the quality, pride, or level of service they delivered.
What they did know was this:
-
They needed t-shirts
-
They needed new business cards
-
They needed help with Facebook
-
They needed their brand to feel as good as the work they were doing
They didn’t know where to start — only that everything needed to come together and feel cohesive.
Discovery First: Asking the Right Questions
Before designing anything, I asked questions.
Did they like their current logo?
What did they like — and what didn’t they?
Were the colors meaningful?
How long had they been in business?
Was the logo recognizable?
Where did their slogan come from, and what did it mean to them?
We also talked about values, mission, pride in workmanship, and how they wanted people to feel when interacting with their business.
Because they weren’t sure what they wanted yet, I explained something I say often:
Design is a process. Sometimes you don’t know what you want until you see what you don’t want.
That’s where we started.

The Design Process: Finding Direction Through Reaction
I created a few early design variations — not as final answers, but as tools for direction.
Some designs were intentionally unfinished. Some were intentionally different.
The goal wasn’t approval — it was reaction.
I always prefer to present new directions live — by phone, video, or in person — because words don’t tell the full story. Reactions do. I look for the moment when someone’s eyes light up before they even say anything.
At one point, a design was approved — but I didn’t see that spark.
They liked it… but they didn’t love it. And for me, “like” isn’t good enough.
My job isn’t to collect approvals. My job is to make sure a client walks away with something they are genuinely excited about.
Brand Evolution to Visionary Innovation Painting (VIP)
With their permission, I asked if I could explore a completely different direction — just to be sure.
Using what I had learned about them as people, their vision for their business, and the pride they took in their work, I made a strategic shift.
Visionary Painting
became
Visionary Innovation Painting — VIP.
The new direction leaned into:
-
Elevation
-
Distinction
-
Quality
-
Treating every client like a VIP
The logo, colors, and overall tone shifted to reflect confidence, professionalism, and care.
The moment they saw it, the reaction was instant.
“I think we have a winner.”
The excitement was real. The energy changed. The light came on.
That’s how I knew — this was the brand.

Phase One Execution: Building the Foundation
Their most immediate need was business cards, so we started there.
We finalized:
-
Logo
-
Fonts
-
Colors
-
Brand tone
-
Core contact information
From there, I:
-
Designed their business cards
-
Designed t-shirts, hats, & pens
-
Helped place orders and coordinate the best deals
-
Found quality options without sacrificing standards
-
Created a baseline email setup so everything looked professional
We also made quick updates to their Facebook profile so their new branding could start working immediately.
Once the urgent needs were handled, I completed their full branding kit.

The Branding Kit: More Than Just Logos
Their branding kit wasn’t just visual assets. It included:
Logo variations for different uses
Color and font guidance
Brand voice and tone
Background and layout usage
Social media guidance
Caption examples
Practical instructions for consistency
It was designed to be a living reference — something they could use confidently and something any future employee could understand immediately.
I walked them through how to use it, how to create simple Facebook posts using Canva, and provided templates and a rebrand announcement so they could confidently share their new identity.
The response was immediate and positive.
People noticed and expressed compliments.

Phase Two: Expanding Into Website, SEO & Online Visibility
After a short amount of time, they were ready to invest in their business and continue to elevate.
The next phase focused on:
A full website with custom copywriting
Domain setup
Google Business Profile setup and verification
Yelp profile setup
Professional email hosting
We worked through the process together — meeting, reviewing, revising, and refining. Once everything was ready, we scheduled the launch, announced it, and put the site live.
After launch, I stayed involved:
Monitoring tracking
Ensuring everything worked behind the scenes
Optimizing technical details
Transitioning them to a professional email system

Ongoing Support, SEO & Marketing Strategy
From there, the focus expanded into visibility.
I helped:
-
Explain SEO in a practical, non-overwhelming way
-
Optimize their Google and Yelp profiles
-
Add photos and content
-
Encourage reviews
-
Navigate advertising opportunities
-
Create flyers, brohchures, and discuss future marketing options like mailers
I also continued providing support — answering questions, helping with graphics, troubleshooting technical issues, and advising on future business structure and growth opportunities.
Our work together happened in clear phases:
-
Phase One: Branding, apparel, business cards, and foundational consistency
-
Phase Two: Website, SEO, profiles, and professional systems
-
Current Phase: Ongoing support, SEO improvement, and future marketing planning
We continue to work together today.
Where We Are Now
Why This Story Matters to Me
I could have delivered a branding kit, built a website, and handed everything off.
But that’s not how I work.
What matters to me is seeing people succeed — truly succeed — and knowing their brand, voice, and online presence finally reflect the quality of what they deliver.
When someone invests in themselves and their business, I take that seriously.
Their success is my success.
This isn’t about checking boxes.
It’s about building something that feels right — and watching it grow, knowing we did it the right way.
